​Threads of Life- Dressed For The Occasion.
​I was thrilled to be chosen as a finalist in the Australian Textile Art Award 2022.

I have explored life’s experiences through the various colours and treatment of the patches sewn to the dress "shape". These are overlapping at times, reflecting the joys and sorrows we experience. At times there are gaps when life seems somewhat disjointed. The dress is a garment in which we clothe ourselves to engage with the world. The quote by Simone Signoret- “It is threads, hundreds of tiny threads which sew people together through the years” is placed in the pocket to remind me that we do not exist alone. Threads, make up the cloth of life.

​Materials used- recycled, eco printed, hand painted patches of fabric and vintage lace stitched to a tulle fabric background in the shape of a dress. Various “patches” have been embellished with embroidery. The quote is stitched onto handmade paper, in the pocket.  The piece hangs on a vintage wooden coat hanger.
